Sharpie, Beckham and AFTAL, a winning combination!

AFTAL announce partnership with Sharpie.

AFTAL is pleased to announce a working partnership with Sharpie markers, which has recently launched a global advertising campaign featuring football superstar star and fashion icon David Beckham.

We?re sure that you have all seen the recent TV ads featuring Beck?s and the handy marker which alongside in-store displays, packaging, and a revamped global web site form part of a two year fully integrated global marketing campaign.

The advert and press materials produced by Sharpie all convey the importance of autographing with the brand recently commissioning a piece of research looking at the UK?s autograph heroes.

Such activity is generating a heightened interest around autographing amongst the UK media, which has in turn led to AFTAL lending their voice to the Sharpie campaign, leading to some fantastic opportunities with both print and radio to gain secure coverage for both organisations and increase demand for the products we all sell.

Specifically, AFTAL Chairman, Garry King, has given no less than 16 radio interviews in conjunction with Sharpie?s northern European marketing director, Doug Walker, to support their autograph campaign.

Such interviews, all of which made reference to AFTAL, have so far reached audiences exceeding 16 million.

To continue this partnership, wherever possible we will be using Sharpie markers at any celebrity signings and will also be adding the Sharpie logo to our website and all AFTAL correspondence. In return, Sharpie will display the AFTAL logo and web link on their website,
www.sharpie.com

We firmly believe that the relationship with Sharpie can only be a positive one, and will ensure that AFTAL, its members and autograph collecting in general is kept in the public eye for some time to come.

AFTAL is keen to ensure that high street retailers are aware that there is a lot of non authentic signed memorabilia available to them, and that AFTAL can help them avoid purchasing such items by ensuring that their own suppliers are AFTAL members.

We are also keen to ensure that collectors know they now have an association working for them against the forgers, as AFTAL are actively working with the Police and Trading Standards in the fight against forgery.
